The women’s final was a repeat of the Pool decider between Edgbaston and Priory, and although Edgbaston again won 2-1, Paderborn came within a point of overturning that result as Julianne Courtice saved match ball before winning the opening encounter.
Nour El Tayeb levelled the match but Deon Saffery took the decider to give Edgbaston their second consecutive, and fourth overall, ECC title.
Defending men’s champions Paderborn were beaten in front of a packed crowd at Ahorn Sportspark as Mulhouse claimed the title for the first time. Olli Tuominen got the French side off to a great start, winning three close games, and when Alan Clyne took a game off Simon Rosner in the second match the writing was on the wall for the hosts.
Knowing a 3-0 win would give them an unassailable lead, Baptiste Masotti took the third match for the loss of just ten points and the title was Mulhouse’s.
